‘Benefits of getting supervision’ book launch

All of our work at Newby Psychological Services is underpinned by high quality supervision. We provide supervision within our own organisation and to outside agencies.

We are proud to announce the recent publication of ‘Supervision in Speech and Language Therapy Personal Stories and Professional Wisdom‘ edited by Cathy Sparkes, Sam Simpson and Deborah Harding.

Gavin Newby co-edited a chapter with Fran Brander on the benefits of getting supervision from outside your profession – Chapter 11 Must it Always be Within or Could it be Outside?  Constructions of Supervision Outside your Own Profession.

Gavin, himself, has external supervision from Cathy Sparkes, a well-renowned Speech & Language Therapist and Personal Constructs psychotherapist.

Gavin was pleased to join Cathy and other contributors to this book at its official launch on 22nd November 2024, held at City University in London. The event was well attended, and the audience were left in no doubt about the continued importance of quality supervision across a range of high pressure healthcare environments.

Gavin said: “It was a real privilege to be asked to contribute a chapter to this important book. Supervision continues to be a cornerstone of high quality and safe working in our industry. Sometimes you have to be creative in these difficult times and seeking supervision from outside your own profession can make a massive difference. I would urge any practitioner to see who else is out there to add to your practice”.
